Founded in 1960, the committee later became the National Committee Against Repressive Legislation. Although the censure of Senator Joseph R. McCarthy is often cited as the end of extreme anti-Communism hysteria, HUAC continued to exist (as the House Internal Security Committee) until 1975. |
