IH Truck Dealer Sleeping with Dormiphone
International Harvester truck dealer Vern Netteschiem listening to recorded truck specifications while he sleeps. The Dormiphone was a clock-controlled tape recorder. According to a magazine article that accompanied the photograph, a "sales promotion man . . . taped a spec-studded sales pitch for the International Travelall, set it to replay softly (at 2:00 and 4:00 a.m.), through an under-pillow mike, into the ear of IH Dealer Vern Netteschiem, while he slept . . . After a peaceful night's sleep, Netteschiem found he could recall nearly 80 percent of the five-minute recording." |
