Professor Charles Abiathar White, Geologist
Carte-de-visite portrait of Charles A. White (1826-1910), an American geologist and paleontologist. White was the State geologist of Iowa in 1866-70, and a professor of natural history at the State University of Iowa from 1867-73. He was the geologist and paleontologist for the United States Geological Survey between 1874 and 1892. The bottom of the image bears the handwritten text: "C.A. White M.D., State Geologist, Iowa, 1868." |
