The original photograph caption reads: "The old Advance is owned by A. Lindemann of Cascade, Iowa. He has it all complete and in good shape and although it is 28 years old, last year as twine was high, he cut a twenty acre oat crop with the old reaper and it ran as good as new." The Advance was manufactured and sold by McCormick from 1869-1879.
