One of six images. In Oct 2007, Phyllis Berg-Pigorsch added: "That's my Dad! Art Vinje, the photographer for the Capital Times in that period, was a friend of his. Art probably took the picture for use in a sales brochure. Dad is pulling a boat onto the dock using the "Berg's Keel-Guided Dock Roller," the first of several inventions for boat handling that Dad manufactured. So, now you've uncovered the story of Bennie Berg, the inventor! In Art's collection I came upon other photos of Berg Sporting Goods Store taken during World War II of lines of hunters buying ammunition when it was scarce and rationed. Dad sold his allotment fairly, one box to a customer at the list price, without profiteering!" |
