New Deal Road Work
CWA road crew leveling a grade on a county road near Westfield. The CWA undertook many road and utility projects during the Great Depression in order to provide relief for out of work men. Such projects were sometimes referred to as "make work," but it is certainly clear from the absence of power equipment, that the projects were clearly "work." |
