Welding a Milk Truck

Welding a milk truck at the Heil Corporation in Milwaukee. The Heil company was founded by German-born Julius P. Heil in 1901. As the Heil Rail Joint Weld Co., Heil successfully pioneered the new welding technology, eventually becoming wealthy as a manufacturer of truck trailers and bodies and refuse collecting vehicles. He served as governor of Wisconsin from 1939 to 1943. In 1926 the company introduced the first tin-lined steel milk tank trucks. The company was sold to Dover Industries by the Heil family in 1993. Today its manufacturing takes place in Tennessee, Texas, and other locations around the world. |
