Map of the United States in 1831

Map created by International Harvester entitled: "The United States as it appeared in 1831 when Cyrus Hall McCormick invented the Reaper." The map pinpoints items of interest, including Native American peoples, cities, and the site of McCormick's Virginia farm. Around the edges are small images showing the state of technology in 1831, in addition to well-known persons' ages at the time of the reaper invention. The map was one of many advertising images used by International Harvester to demonstrate the long history of the company in terms of agricultural innovation. |
