The text on the place file card reads: "The Stockbridge Indians were highly acculturated by the time they migrated from the East to Wisconsin in the early 19th century. The church they belonged to was a Puritan sect, but it later merged with the Congregational Church in Wisconsin. For a detailed account of their migration, see In Unnamed Wisconsin, 1634-1836 by Davidson, 1895, pp109, ff." |
