Seated oval portrait of Nathaniel Dean (1817-1880).  Dean was a prominent early Madison businessman and political leader.  He built a cream brick farm house at 4718 Monona Dr. in 1856 and lived there for 15 years.  It is now a Madison Landmark and on the National Register of Historic Places.
