This image was taken for an article that appeared in the February 1969 issue of Harvester World magazine (pp.1-11). The day the photograph was taken, Adams was attempting to "shoot a demonstration picture with a 'pinhole camera'" and had "previously selected his subject, a tangled cypress grove on a point overlooking the Pacific."
