No. 8 The caption beneath the photograph reads, "Waukau Methodist church (only church in town, pop.150). Here occurred the death of Wisconsin author Fred. L. Holmes at the tragic close of his hourlong address at Waukau's Centennial observance, July 27, 1946. Waukau was his early hometown, where he attended grade school; he then attended the high school at nearby Omro and entered the University of Wisconsin in 1902, graduating in 1906. This card, addressed in his handwriting, was sent to a classmate in the year 1909."
