Black Hawk Tree
The Black Hawk Tree growing in the middle of the street, now East Black Hawk Avenue. There are houses on the left and the road is lined with trees planted in neat rows. There is snow on the ground. According to legend, Chief Black Hawk hid in the branches of this tree for three days during the Black Hawk War. The tree was destroyed in a storm in the 1920's. |
