McCormick Rush Street Home Exterior

The facade of the McCormick family residence at 675 Rush Street, which takes up an entire block between Erie and Huron Streets. Cyrus Hall McCormick, Sr. hired Cudell and Blumenthal, a leading architectual firm of the time, to design the French Renaissance style home. Construction started after the Chicago fire in 1874, and was completed in 1879. Three generations of the family lived there, but it was eventually sold by the Cyrus Hall McCormick estate in 1945 and razed in the 1950's. |
