Mapleside a prime example of the Greek revival style of architecture was built by Able Dunning, the first settler to plant crops in Madison. When Mapleside appeared in "Have you seen this Madison?" the Taychopera Foundation was struggling to save the house that was scheduled for demolition to make way for a Burger King restaurant. The building has since been demolished. Originally published in a Wisconsin State Journall column entitled "Have You Seen This Madison?". The column ran from 1969 to 1977. |
