President Truman on Capitol Square
President Harry S. Truman rides in a car in a parade on the Capitol Square. He came for a 5 1/2 hour visit, gave a "peace" address to the nation from the U.W. field House and dedicated the new CUNA building on Sherman Avenue. Signs on storefronts across Mifflin Street read: "Gerald's" and "The Hub Clothiers". The Parkway Theatre has a marquee with signs that read: "Cagney —— Bendix, 'The Time of Your Life', 'The Gay Instruders'". |
