In the spring of 1893, the citizen group Madison Improvement Association conducted a contest for the design of a new boat house for the city. The winning design was submitted by the young Chicago architect Frank Lloyd Wright and was executed at a cost of $4,000 with money raised by the Association. The boat house was the first building of Wright's design to be built in Madison. It was razed beginning on February 19, 1926. |
