Bust of Robert M. La Follette, Sr.
Sculptor Louis Mayer, with his larger-than-life portrait bust of Senator Robert M. La Follette, Sr., modeled in 1919. Mayer was a Milwaukee-born painter and sculptor and a founder of the Society of Milwaukee Artists in 1912. About 1912 Mayer relocated in New York where he devoted himself entirely to sculpture. A bust of Abraham Lincoln is among the other representations of Mayer's work seen in the photograph. |
