The tree marked the location of the first fort in Wisconsin, established by the French in 1718. This image was used in R. Bruce Allison's 1982 book, Wisconsin's Famous and Historic Trees, p. 15. It also appears in the 2005 second edition of the book, retitled Every Root and Anchor, p. 5. |
