Webster Home
Front view of the home of composer Joseph Philbrick Webster, with trees and a small dog in the yard. Joseph Philbrick Webster composed "Sweet By and By" and the Civil War favorite, "Lorena". He lived in the house from 1857 until his death in 1875 and most of his more than 1000 songs were written there. Built in 1836 as a federal land grant office, the structure now serves as a museum. Caption reads: "Home of J. P. Webster, Elkhorn, Wis. Composer of 'Sweet Bye and Bye." |
