Fairchild Block

Elevated view of the Fairchild Block at 29 East Main Street as photographed by attorney Albert G. Zimmerman. Until 1894 Zimmerman was a partner in the law firm, La Follette, Harper, Roe, & Zimmerman, but in that year La Follette, Roe, and Zimmerman moved from the Pioneer Block to this building where they occupied adjoining, but independent offices on the second floor. Robert M. La Follette, Sr., continued to practice law in this building until he was elected governor in 1900. Many years later S.S. Kresge occupied the building. Image #30696 which shows the Pioneer Block, in which Zimmerman had previously practiced, was probably also taken by the attorney to document the two locations of his professional offices. |
