"Born at Green Bay, Jan. 1, 1819. He was an old fur trader, and pioneer settler of Milwaukee; a brother-in-law of Solomon Juneau, and son of Jacques Vieau, who established a trading post at Milwaukee in 1795. Died at Fort Howard, Oct 30, 1888. The portrait was painted in 1839. See Vieau's narrtive, in Wisconsin Historical Collection, vol. XI, pp.218-237."
