Garnhart House
The house at 424 North Pinckney Street was built by Samuel H. Donnell in 1857-1858. Donnell was one of the architects for the former Capitol, and the house is built of the same stone as used in the Capitol. Later owned by J.H. Garnhart, then about 1887 by Mrs. Sarah Conover, and later by Mrs. Caroline Pierce, who maintained it as a rooming house. It is now a Madison city landmark and a bed & breakfast (Mansion Hill Inn). The iron fence was originally placed on a stone coping. |
