Flag Drill at Henry Vilas Park
Fourth of July flag drill at Vilas Park, choreographed by F.W. Kehl in Madison. The land for Vilas Park was donated to the Madison Park and Pleasure Drive by William Freeman Vilas in 1904. In 1911 he provided money for the establishment of a zoo that was named in honor of his son Henry Vilas. The photograph provides a panoramic view of Lake Wingra and the landscape beyond. In the foreground the audience is watching from a carriage and from an automobile. |
