Soo Line Depot
Caption reads: "Soo Line Depot, Ashland, Wis." It was built in 1890 of brownstone in the Richardson Romanesque style. Pedestrians stand on the platform of the depot. Railroad cars are on the second set of tracks on the left. It is listed in the State and National Register of Historic Places. The railroad company was founded in 1888 and named for the Minneapolis, St. Paul and Sault Ste. Marie Railroad (MStP&SSM), which was commonly known as the Soo Line after the phonetic spelling of Sault. |
