William Henry Harrison

A head and shoulders portrait of William Henry Harrison, 9th President of the United States, 1841. Born in Virginia on February 9, 1773, he was the first President to die in office. He died from pneumonia on April 4, 1841, only a month after taking office. Beginning in 1801, Harrison served as the Governor of the Indiana Territory for 12 years. He became famous for his role in the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811. |
