Josiah A. Noonan

Quarter-length oval portrait of Josiah A. Noonan. He was born in Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York. Noonan came to Wisconsin in November of 1836. He became publisher of the Mohawk Courier and Little Falls Gazette in 1834. Later, he moved to Milwaukee where he was elected postmaster in 1843. He went on to become a partner in a paper mill, open a paper warehouse, and establish the Northwestern Type Foundry. |
