Rugby Junction

Minneapolis, St. Paul, and Sault Ste. Marie Railway's locomotive #704 photographed at Rugby Junction, where the train made a connection with the main line train. The Soo Line abandoned passenger service at Rugby Junction on July 30, 1938. This is the last train out of the Union Station that made the connection to Rugby Junction. Although they do not appear here, the engineer was Tay Morgan, the fireman Carl Turznich, and the conductor was Jim McCarthy. Presented by Roy L. Martin. |

Correction: [The train] is standing in the CMStP&P depot in Milwaukee, WI. It may soon depart for Rugby Jct. near what was then Sclessingerville (Slinger). Rugby Jct. is a crossing of the CM&StP and SOO Line railroads. It is not a city or town. It once had a two-stall engine house. Mostly it is and was a field. - Richard Dermody of St Francis WI (Apr 2006). |
