This locomotive was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works about 1886-1887 and was used on trains 5 and 6 between Stevens Point and Waukesha. The engine belonged to the Penokee Railroad, a subsidiary of the Wisconsin Central. It was later renumbered No 2029 of the Minneapolis, St. Paul and Sault Ste. Marie Railroad and scrapped in 1928. This image comes from the collection of railroad historian Roy L. Martin, who notes that the calliope whistle and cab awning were the private property of engineer George W. Martin, his father. The fireman is Con Doyle. |
