This yellow-brick house was built in 1897 at a cost of $9,000. Its design features elements of English Tudor architecture, anticipating the so-called Ecletic Resurgence of that style in Wisconsin by more than two decades. Stephen Moulton Babcock (1843-1931),a University of Wisconsin professor and inventor of the Babcock milk fat test. His papers are held in the manuscript collection of the Wisconsin Historical Society. |
