House built c. 1855, occupied 1864-1866 by Professor Daniel Read, and later used as the home of University of Wisconsin presidents,as the home of the director of the Observatory, and the Robert M. La Follette School of Public Affairs. Charles Newton Brown graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1876 and his papers are held in the manuscript collection of the Wisconsin Historical Society. |
