On the lower left of the photograph: X4-4. This is similar to the number on Image ID: 23744, by Arthur J Kingsbury (1875-1956), a photographer in Antigo WI from at least 1911-1928. On Ancestry.com in the 1937 Indian Census Roll taken by the U.S. Department of the Interior, there is a "Big Pat Bearskin" on the Lac du Flambeau reservation. It says he was born in 1846, is age 90, a full-blooded Chippewa, widowed, enrolled at Lac du Flambeau, receiving Allotment 27, living alone. |
