Invitation to Fourth Annual Ball
Invitation to the annual ball at Turner Hall, sponsored by Madison's Andrew Proudfit Steam Fire Engine Company #2. The company, which was organized in 1870, was drawn entirely from Madison's German population. As was traditional, the company was named in honor of the mayor. The steam pumper, depicted in the center of the invitation, was a decided improvement over the former ladder company. |
