Wisconsin State Capitol Interior — Stacks of the Historical Library
The circulation desk and study area in the Historical Society's library in the third Wisconsin State Capitol. This photograph taken by periodical librarian Mary N. Foster documents the large space in the new South Wing into which the Society moved in 1883. Because the Society's rooms included two levels of library stacks that were closed to the public, the ceiling between the two floors was only roughly finished, a fact which reveals more about the construction of the addition. |
