Wisconsin State Capitol Interior — Stacks of the Historical Library
Cluttered work space of the librarian responsible for the Historical Society's newspaper collection during the period when the Society occupied rooms in the third Wisconsin State Capitol. Details of the decoration include the light fixture, the Eastlake desk, and one of the ubiquitous captains chairs. Although the original gas light fixture had been retrofitted for electricity by the time this picture was taken, clearly there was a time when an open gas flame was dangerously close to large quantities of historical paper! |
