Street Parade Rig

Street parade rig, apparently to agitate against delays in construction of a railroad to connect Manitowoc to the west. In the background is a store owned by F. Kostomlatsky, secretary-treasurer of the Slovanska Lipa (Bohemian Society). Kostomlatsky was a dry-goods and later wholesale liquor dealer. Next to this store is the Turner Hall, with the name Thusnelda Lodge of the Orden der Hermannsoehne, a German organization which used the building as a meeting place. |
