Harry Wilson and Fowler McCormick
The two men are shown shaking hands with a crowd of people around them. Caption reads: "Grandson Greets Grandson — When Cyrus Hall McCormick perfected the reaper at the family farm in Virginia, Jo Anderson toiled with him in the blacksmith shop to build it. One hundred-thirty-five years ago, at the first successful test on the reaper, Jo Anderson walked beside the machine, raking the platform clear of the cut grain. Last month a portion of the Walnut Grove Farm was designated a national landmark by the National Park Service. One of the highlights of the day was the reunion of the grandsons of those two men — former IH Board Chairman Fowler McCormick, grandson of Cyrus Hall McCormick, and Harry Wilson, grandson of Jo Anderson. Mr. Wilson will retire soon, after almost 50 years' service as custodian of the site." |
