William Lafayette Ames
Waist-up portrait of William Lafayette Ames, a farmer from Oregon. William was the great-grandson of Revolutionary War veteran Nathaniel Ames. He served in the Farmer's National Congress, first as a member of executive committee, then as treasurer, then as president. He was the co-organizer of the Farmers' National Life Insurance Company of Chicago, and was a director and vice-president of the Dane County Agricultural Society and Fair. |
