Dr. Charles Delancey Alton
Full-length portrait of Dr. Charles Delancey Alton, standing outdoors and holding a cane. Dr. Alton was first a civil engineer, then completed his medical education at the Bellevue Hospital Medical College. He worked for the Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company from 1876-1936, first as an Adjustor and then as a Medical Referee. He wrote "The Therapeutic Value of Mountain Forests" (1895), "State Sanatoria for Tuberculosis Patients" (1900), and "Prophylaxis in Tuberculosis" (1906). Caption on rear of image reads: "Charles Delancey Alton, M.D., my fellow drum boy in the Milwaukee Light Guard of 1859-61. Taken in 1920. C.K." [Charles King] |
