Quarter-length portrait of Charles Allis, president of the Allis-Chalmers Company (1901-1905), vice-president and director of the Milwaukee Trust Company, director of the First National Bank, trustee of the Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company, and organizer and president of the Chicago Belting Company. He was also first president of the Milwaukee Art Society, a trustee of the Layton Art Gallery, and his home in Milwaukee has been converted into the Charles Allis Art Museum. |
