Caption reads: "An Indian woman of over 70 [Lura Fowler Kindness] who lives by herself in a little house on the main highway in Brothertown. She has a ms. book in her possession — a record of the Brothertown Indians as written by their superintendents since 1795. She will not part with it or send it for photo-stating. Willing to have some one come to her home to copy. Apr. 10, 1934 Mr. Schafer told her that if he should come to that part of the State during the summer he would come to see her. Letters in office file:
