High Rock from Romance Cliff
Text on front reads: "High Rock from Romance Cliff. Dells of the Wisconsin River." On reverse: "High Rock from Romance Cliff.–This is the imposing 'Lower Jaws of the Dells' named by the old raftsmen in the early days. These are the first high cliffs on the Upper Dells, and are a short distance above the city of Kilbourn." Elevated view looking down at an excursion boat steaming through past High Rock. Trees are clinging to the formations and growing on top. Kilbourn City was founded in 1857 by Byron Kilbourn, the name was changed in 1931 to Wisconsin Dells. |
