Athletic Field, Young Men's Christian Association Camp
Text on front reads: "The Athletic Field, Young Men's Christian Association Camp. Lake Geneva, Wis." A group of young men exercise on on a large athletic field. The Yerkes Observatory can be seen in the background. In 1886, three men conceived the idea of a YMCA training school, the land was purchased and the training camp established. In 1890, it was moved to Chicago, but the Lake Geneva Campus remained as a "college camp" used for retreats. |
