Village Hall
Text on front reads: "Village Hall, Whitehall, Wis." Built in 1912 of brick in the Romanesque Revival style. A memorial sign of honoring veterans, and a large tree are located between the city hall and the bandstand. Handwritten on reverse: "This is what we see from our big front porch. The hall contains public library and fire dep't on main floor, besides city jail and city clerk's office [????] restrooms. Above is a big hall for plays, dances and parties. Basement has American Legion rooms, furnace and store room. The bandstand was built by our Chautauqua committee in 1920, and the plate on the front contains our six names. The Roll of Honor contains 400 names - and by night is illuminated by electric search lights from across the street. Alice Eggum." |
