Hotel Aussem

Text on front reads: "Hotel Aussem, Thiensville, Wis. Eleven Miles North of Milwaukee, on C.M. & St. P.R.R., and Milwaukee Northern Electric R.R., Also on Green Bay and Cedarburg Plank Road. The Most Popular Summer Resort in the State." Originally the Memmler Hotel, Fred and Maria Memmler sold the hotel to Gerhard Aussem in 1911. He changed the name and it remained the Aussem Hotel until 1947. Many horse-drawn wagons are in the unpaved street in front of the hotel, and another building is beyond it. Several men are in or near their wagons. Trees surround the hotel. |
