Solomon Juneau Homestead
Text on reverse reads: "Solomon Juneau Homestead, Theresa, Wisconsin 53091. Solomon Juneau, a French trader, helped found Milwaukee and became its first Mayor. In 1847 he founded Theresa. He built this home and moved his family here in 1852. The home is now operated by the Theresa Historical Society as a museum." The clapboard home was built in the Greek Revival Style. In June, 1932, the house was moved to this location from its original site, higher up on the hill. Signs read: "Sol. Juneau's Homestead, Founder of Theresa 1847" and "Theresa Historical Society." |
