First Wisconsinites to Visit Poland after World War II

Caption reads: "The first organized group of Wisconsin residents to visit Poland since before World War II boarded a plane Sunday at Gen. Mitchell field for New York city. They left New York Monday on a KLM (Dutch) air liner for Poznan, Poland. From top of the ramp are Mrs. Pauline Stasielczuk, Racine; Mrs. Sophie Stabicz, 1429 W. Burnham st.; Mrs. Anton Gasiorkiewicz, 2808 N. Pierce st.; Anton Gasiorkiewicz; Mrs. Martha Philipkowski, 4304 W. Cleveland av.; Miss Josephine Philipkowski, same address; Waclaw Pokrzywa, 4736 W. Forest Home av.; Mrs. Gladys Maretto, 3777 E. Munkwitz av., Cudahy; Mrs. Laura DeBlaise, Racine; Mrs. Harriet Gostomski, 314 E. Bradley av.; Miss Marilyn Gostomski, same address, and Miss Laura Pilarski, 942 N. Cass st., a Milwaukee Journal reporter. Six other persons left earlier and will join the group in Amsterdam, Holland. They will return July 19. Almost all will visit relatives in Poland." |
