Vollrath Bowl

Text on front reads: "Vollrath Bowl, Sheboygan, Wis." The land was donated in 1917 by the Vollrath heirs and the construction of the Vollrath Park Zoo was begun in 1927. On August 23rd, 1931, an impressive ceremony was held to dedicate Vollrath Bowl, attended by 20,000 people. The 45-year-old zoo was closed by the city council in 1976 due to the cost of operation and deterioration. |
