Michael Ahner Log House

Michael Ahner Log House | Postcard | Wisconsin Historical Society
A log house in the Ozaukee County Pioneer Village. Text on back reads: "Ozaukee County, Pioneer Village, Wisconsin. Typical of the home built by German Immigrants with a center stair hall and stove heat instead of fireplaces. Original clothes press in bedroom has buttermilk finish. Bedroom door is of butternut. The immigrant trunk and baptismal record on the wall tell some of the Ahner family story. Handmade chair, wooden shoes and cutting board reveal Michael Ahner's skill with meager tools. The parlor, added later, served for entertaining and as a play area for children on Sundays." There is a log outbuilding and possibly a log barn on the right. The grounds have paths and shrubs. Red flowers are planted in a round brick garden and trees are in the background.
