Text on the reverse reads: "The Famous Little White School House, at Ripon, Wisconsin. Birthplace of the Republican Party in 1854." Surrounded by dwellings, trees and a white picket fence, the schoolhouse has signs on it explaining its significance. On the left is a monument. There are flowers along the walk and in boxes at the windows. It has been moved 4 times, the last in 1951. In 1974 it was declared a National Historic Landmark. |
